Along with breaking records on Spotify, Bieber had more than 21 million streams globally in just five days for “What Do You Mean.” Bieber broke the record for Spotify’s music streaming website, with the most plays for a single in its first week. “What Do You Mean” has become his fastest hit single in the UK, with 3.2 million streams in the single’s first week- the most for a single’s debut in the UK. Both Bieber’s hit singles "What Do You Mean" and "Where Are Ü Now" will be featured on Bieber’s highly anticipated fourth studio album and released on November 13 of this year.

Grab a Beer or Pour a Glass of Wine with Uncorked and I Love Beer

With BevMo!, Liquor Barn and other liquor retailers in mind, BrownTrout developed Uncorked and I Love Beer, two new wall calendars for 2016. Uncorked appeals to wine lovers who appreciate the beauty and basics of wine, but don’t care to be a connoisseur. The calendar features a varietal each month, ranging from Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc to Chardonnay and Chianti, and offers pairing tips, wine trivia, as well as a beautiful design for the right wall.

Holly Goldsmith (Senior Designer, Core Team) describes BrownTrout's Uncorked Calendar: "The design, with its bright colors and quirky typography—including the popped “O” on the cover title treatment—is elegant yet playful, conveying that learning and understanding wine is a fun activity that everyone can enjoy. Every month, in a graphic box reminiscent of a wine-label, we’ve placed varietal information and food-pairing suggestions, and there is also a small Wine-Chat box containing interesting wine-related tidbits. Flanking each monthly image is a thoughtful quote, in a fresh funky font, to the continuing theme."

On the flip side, I Love Beer was created with a "man's man" and "his cave" in mind. Filled with bar banter quotes, beer jokes and little-known-beer-facts, I Love Beer is the perfect calendar gift. Holly Goldsmith also commented on this title: "With dark, distressed backgrounds, a deep color palette, and close-up images of golden foaming beer, the design has the feel of your favorite grunge bar; you can almost smell the hops and feel the sawdust under your feet."

“Amy” Documentary Shines Light on Amy Winehouse

“Amy”, a new documentary, directed by Asif Kapadia, recently debuted in theaters. It reveals the tragic and inspiring story of the young British musician and songwriter Amy Winehouse. The famous contralto singer was known for her career-changing single “Rehab," along with top charting hits “Back To Black” and “You Know I’m No Good."

Not only does the film reveal the tragedy of her career as a gone-too-soon singer, but also depicts how the singer handled personal struggles, such as depression, bulimia, substance abuse, and ultimately leading to her untimely death at only 27 years old.

The movie is produced by Universal Music U.K., and has been well received by critics. The film delves into a different Amy Winehouse outside of the public eye, before the chaos of fame and media came tumbling down on her.

Entertainment Weekly’s article interviewed Asif Kapadia about the film and he explained: “Generally, people had a negative opinion of Amy Winehouse. She was a joke. Now people see the film and they’re changing their tune.”

When the film debuted on July 3, it received positive reviews from critics, in part due to its well-crafted use of footage from Winehouse’s family and friends’ videos, as well as videos from personal cell phones.

According to an article in Variety, Tony Bennett once insisted that Amy Winehouse’s memory should be preserved in the company of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. The film continues to be successful and resonates with audiences, further proving Amy Winehouse’s relevancy today; even four years after her death. Following its limited release, the film can be seen worldwide.

The band is comprised of American songwriters and musicians, including siblings Ross Lynch (Lead/vocalist/rhythm, guitarist), Riker (bass/vocals), Rocky (lead guitar/vocals), and Rydel (keyboard/vocals), along with friend Ellington “Ratliff" (drummer/vocalist). For their second new album “Sometime Last Night," the group collaborated with producer Matt Wallace and songwriter Savan Kotecha, who also wrote for pop stars Ariana Grande, Ellie Goudling, and The Weeknd. Ross Lynch and the rest of the band, are considered Disney Artists, with Lynch playing in Disney’s “Austin and Ally” on the Disney Channel.

In an interview with radio.com, R5 talked about their songwriting experiences, and how their hit song “Sometime Last Night” came about. The band had their second album completed, but decided to start from scratch. In the end, it worked to their benefit. “We went to the label and we were like, ‘Let’s scrap it all, and we’re gonna write a new one.’ So we would write a song, and if it was better than the one that we had on a previous record, [we’d use it]. We kept writing and crossing older songs off, and sooner or later, we had 'Sometime Last Night',” said Lynch.

So far, the band has been successful with their new music video for their single “All Night," with 1 million hits within its first week. Premiering on July 8, the video was filmed at the Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles.

R5’s tour “Sometime Last Night” began July 7 in Orange Park, Florida and will end March 15 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The tour will be hitting a total of 75 cities.

The Color Craze Continues…

Further proving the success of adult coloring books, Parade Magazine recently issued a news article ( Parade News Article ) on the benefits and joys of coloring as an adult. The article accessed popular coloring books for adults, mentioning the variety of genres, including a “Colour Me Good Benedict Cumberbatch," featuring the famous British Actor who has played in "Star Trek" and the Oscar-nominated film “The Imitation Game."  Recently, BrownTrout’s Color Your World line includes 2016 calendar products, such as a wall calendar, desk pad, engagement and pocket planner.

The article also emphasizes how the adult coloring book craze is still trending, becoming not only a sporadic fun activity from time to time, but developing into a hobby for adults. Unlike when we are kids, as adults, we can set aside time to color as a hobby, and it can become a daily activity to de-stress and unwind from other responsibilities. In Parade’s article, Psychologist Alice Domar, Ph.D. asserts that coloring utilizes both sides of the brain, which are required for creative and tactical activities, and as a result, can be more stimulating compared to doodling.

Parade’s article also entails other benefits of adult coloring books- specifically in respects to collaboration and sharing. Some social media feeds (Pinterest for example) consist of designs and patterns, allowing people to share amongst each other different designs to color. Becoming more common in group therapies or with friends, people are starting to share the activity of coloring together in a group setting. Either way, the coloring craze continues to spread, as more people discover this fun and stress-free activity.

Watch for BrownTrout Color Your World line of 2016 calendar products, including a wall calendar, desk pad, engagement and pocket planner.

Learn History with Reality Show “Pawn Stars”

The popular History channel show “Pawn Stars," watched around the world, surrounds a popular pawnshop called Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas. “Pawn Stars” airs Mondays on the History Channel, with its development rooted in the history savvy Harrison family. The show surrounds three generations of the Harrison family and their expertise on the credibility of historical artifacts. Moreover, BrownTrout publishes the official Gold & Silver Pawn Shop calendar.

The show started in 2009, and the show’s creator and producer, Rick Harrison, never expected the show to be a huge hit. The show appears in 150 countries, broadcasting in 38 languages, and the show has become one of the most popular reality shows on cable TV. In Gold and Silver Pawn Shop ’s Interview, Rick Harrison explained: “I pitched the show for four years. Everyone kept telling me no one wants to watch a show about four fat guys in a pawn shop."

The biggest appeal of the show is mainly the history lessons throughout each episode, which captivate the audience in a light-hearted manner rather than a monotonous history lesson. “(People) love to get history lessons from their uncle, not a professor," said Harrison. "Young people love to watch the show because I can make all these antiques’ history, all this history, relative to today.”

The show continues to produce intriguing and entertaining episodes for its viewers. “We’re trying to get a lot more history lessons in and things like that. You know, it’s a lot more history lessons, just a lot more stuff,” said Harrison. “We’re sort of back to [the way] we started the show.”
